Design Bureau (CB) “Malachite” Works on the creation of a multipurpose atomic submarine of small displacement of “Gorgon” and a small non-Naatomic submarine with air-dependent energy installation (VNEU) “Serval”, reports Interfax, referring to the enterprise’s report 2020.
“Technical proposals have been developed in the initiative order and the appearance of [submarine] is defined,” the document is noted.
Also in the KB work on a new deepwater apparatus, which can be immersed on the bottom of the Mariana depression. “In 2020, the society launched work on the creation of a unique ultrahooth-dressed complex with an apparatus capable of immersing and working at depths to 11 thousand meters,” the report says.
In July 2019, the leading designer “Malachite” Igor Karavaev said that the projected Russian small unauthorized submarine of the Piranha family of the project P-750B with VNIU is able to be under water up to 12 days.
In April 2018, TASS, referring to Malachite, reported that the enterprise experienced a sample VNEU for small non-national submarines.
In Russia, VNEU for non-national submarines is also created in KB “Rubin”.
VNEU allows a non-national submarine to swim a long time under water without the need to rise to its surface (that is, to work without access to atmospheric oxygen). Similar projects are conducted in France, Sweden, Germany, Japan, Spain, China, India and the USA.
