The official representative of the White House Jen Psaka stated that Washington did not intend to warn Moscow about cyber blows, RIA Novosti reports.
Psaki explained that at the Summit of the Presidents of Russia and the US held in Geneva, Vladimir Putin and Joe Bayden, the American leader mentioned hacker attacks at the facilities in which Russia accuse. He stated that if such incidents continue, then Moscow would have to be responsible for them. In this case, Washington will act without warning.
“The president made clearly to understand: these are areas that we observe, and reserve the possibility of actions that enhate the consequences,” the psaki emphasized on a briefing.
The spokesman for the White House asked why Biden did not announce the list of Russian objects to which the United States could be aimed. In response, Psaki stated that the states “do not anticipate strikes.”
At the Geneva Summit on June 16, the US leader Joe Biden suggested Putin to help deal with hackers inside the country. He also handed over to the Russian president a list of forbidden for cyber sectors. Biden added that during the negotiations Washington did not threaten Moscow by a military response to kiberataki.
