The US military blew up in the Atlantic Ocean bomb weighing more than 18 tons to test her impact on the surrounding ships, reports Daily Star.
Tests passed 160 kilometers from the coast of Florida. The bomb was dropped into the ocean and blown under water. There was an aircraft carrier on the surface next to the explosion. Tests were to show what effect the explosion of such force will have on the ships nearby.
At the time of the explosion, the US geological service recorded an earthquake by force of 3.9 points. It is noted that this is a common phenomenon when testing this kind, and no consequences for the coast has not suffered.
US Navy reported that the aircraft carrier stood the test by showing stability to reset such bombs and its effectiveness in battle.
The military also stressed that the tests complied with the requirements for the environmental impact and were carried out taking into account the migration of sea flora and fauna in the area of the ocean.
