Today banknotes of the Bank of Russia are manufactured on paper with biocidal properties, that is, they are protected from bacteriological threat. An antimicrobial substance is added to the banknote paper at the stage of its manufacture, which prevents the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, “Alexseev explained. He added that new banknotes will be made of paper with antimicrobial properties.
