Roscosmos and Sansa will deflate Space Dehibition Station in South Africa

Scientific and Production Corporation “Systems of Precision Instrumentation” (NPK “SPP”, is included in the state corporation “Roskosmos”) and the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) signed a contract for the placement of the Russian complex of detection and measurement of the parameters of the movement of space garbage (OEK OKM). On the part of the NPK “SPP”, the contract signed the Director General of Yuri Roy, from Sansa – CEO Valantan Munsami.

The station is designed to automatically detect spacecraft and space garbage objects on low, medium and high near-earth orbits. It is capable of identifying their corner coordinates and identify with objects included in the ECC complex complex, and issue the resulting coordinate and unofficient information to the dataset and processing center.

Complex implements an autonomous search and detection of objects at heights from 120 to 40 thousand kilometers and contains three types of various destination telescopes, which, according to the reflected sunlight, are able to detect space objects and elements of “cosmic garbage”, having a shine to 18- th starry magnitude.

OEK OKM in South Africa is the second of four specialized optical-electronic complexes created for the Russian automated system of warning of dangerous situations in the near-empty outer space. The main objective of Aspos OKP is the monitoring of the near-earth outer space and identify dangerous convergence of active spacecraft with each other and with the objects of “cosmic garbage”.

By participating in this project, Russia expands cooperation with BRICS countries in the space sphere, as well as international cooperation in ensuring the safety of space activities in the framework of the UN global agenda for the use of outer space for peaceful purposes and the Meagent Coordination Committee on Space Mustor.
