Russia: created a self-learning leg prosthesis

In the Russian Center for Project Activities (CPD) of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok, they developed a self-learning and adapting a leg prosthesis. About this on Saturday, July 3, reports RIA Novosti

According to the agency, a neural network technology is used in the development. The new prosthesis learns to adapt to each patient and make comfortable movement. It is based on three points of the support, can swing a foot and compensate for repulsion. The product can actively move – a person saves resources when walking and does not think about how to put a foot.

The prosthesis is self-progress due to the sensors installed on a healthy person’s leg. The system registers muscle indicators, as well as the position of the limb in space and angles of rotation. Thus, the prosthesis of the prosthesis receives all the data collected and adapts to the user walking. The control board is located in the denture itself, and the wires are not required.

The project was created with the active participation of the programmer’s programmer, who does not have one leg. The developers hope that the cost of their final product will be no more than 800 thousand rubles, while the cost of most modern analogues exceeds a million rubles.

On November 14, 2019, it was reported that the specialists of the Buryat Center for Prosthetics and Orthopedics “Salute Orthodas” presented the 3D model of the first in Russia of the knee module of polycentric kinematics.
