The prosecutor’s office of Albania opened a criminal case against the two Russians and five Chekhov: they are suspected of espionage on the teachings of NATO Defender Europe 21. This is reported by the Albanian Daily News Edition.
Local police have already provided materials to investigate the prosecutor’s office. The publication notes that the detained Russians are George Budanov and Vladislav Cherkasov, who came to Albania during the exercises of the North Atlantic Alliance in May-June.
Russians and the Czech Republic are suspected of collecting information. The prosecution is based on the data on their movements: Thus, the Czechs parted the neighborhood of military bases on the car and stayed near them for a short time – it supposedly confirmed the GPS data. The investigation assumes that the suspects photographed participating in the exercises.
While the Russian side did not comment on this information.
June 21, Russians arrested on suspicion of espionage in Germany. It is assumed that the man named Ilnur N. worked for Russian special services. In Germany, he was a researcher at some university.
