US Prosecutor General introduced a moratorium on death penalty

US Prosecutor General Merrick Garland introduced a federal moratorium on bringing the death penalty. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“The Ministry of Justice should ensure that in the federal criminal system, each person not only granted the rights according to the Constitution and the laws of the United States, but also a fair and humane appeal,” Garland said. It is noted that the moratorium will last for the time of checking the relevant procedures of the ministry.

In March, the death penalty was banned in the US state of Virginia. The subject has become the 23rd in the United States and the first among those that were included in the Confederation of Southern States, where they do not resort to this point of punishment.

In Russia, the moratorium on the death penalty operates the moratorium since 1997.
