Zakharova declared oppression of Roma in Czech Republic

The international community should pay attention to the oppression of Gypsies, which is observed in the Czech Republic. This was stated by the Director of the Information and Printing Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharov at a briefing, reports the correspondent “Renta.ru”.

Apparently, we are talking about the systemic manifestation of xenophobia, including the representatives of the Gypsy, – I’m talking about the Czech Republic now, – to which the international community needs to pay special attention. The happening goes in line with the unfavorable situation in the country with Roma minority rights , with manifestation and segregation, and gypsy discrimination, “said Zakharov.

Diplomat added that the Russian side supported the appeal of the Council of Europe’s leadership to investigate the circumstances of the recent death of ethnic gypsies in the Czech Republic.

So it reacted to the incident with the death of a man detained in the city of Teplice. In the Czech Republic, the scandal broke out in connection with his death: the police allegedly detained him by mistake, after which he became bad and he soon died in an ambulance car. His death is compared with the death of the African America George Floyd, which led to the most ambitious in the history of the United States protests and police reforms.

In March of the current year, the police held mass raids against Gypsies after their conflict with the residents of the village of Factory. The cause of police actions were pogroms who led the Gypsy population after a household quarrel.
