Serbian’s armed forces are strengthened including the purchase of Russian weapons. This was told by the President of the country Alexander Vucich, his words reported TASS.
“On the teachings of the Serbian army, people could see Serbian weapons, and of course, a new weapon that we bought in Russia and other countries,” the politician noted. He promised that by March, the Army Army will become even stronger at the expense of new weapons.
According to TASS, Belgrade purchased 30 T-72 MS tanks and 30 BRDM-2MS armored personnel carriers worth about 75 million euros. The authorities of the country concluded that the combat readiness of the Serbian Armed Forces strengthened due to military cooperation with Russia.
At the end of April, Vucich refused to support the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions by Europe and the United States. The politician promised that while he was the post of head of state, his decision would not change. Vuchich added that only “sincere and clear policies” will be able to bring Serbia to the future.
Before that, the European Union called on Belgrade to be more actively connecting to the sanction regimes of the union in preparation for joining the European Union. The head of European diplomacy Jozep Borrel said that such a step by Serbia will become one of the indicative factors of rapprochement in foreign policy issues. However, the country’s leader replied that Belgrade would not agree with all the positions of Brussels.
