“Orenburgneft” controls greenhouse gases with help of UAV

Orenburgneft, (part of Rosneft), has begun to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to control greenhouse gas levels at oil and gas preparation facilities. About this “Lente.ru” reported in the company.

Monitoring takes place with the help of a remote laser gas analyzer installed on the CAPA. The terrestrial control station in real time comes information about the content of methane in air layers. In case of detection of deviations, after planting drone and data processing, a photoplanc and a heat card are compiled.

Monitoring will be carried out at Orenburgneft production facilities. Using drone will allow you to control remote and hard-to-reach areas.

Company specialists have extensive experience in using UAVs to monitor the state of oil and gas objects. Over the past three years, drones spent more than 10 thousand hours in the air, made more than 4,200 departures and examined about 500 thousand kilometers of pipelines and oil and gas objects.

Environmental preservation is an integral part of the corporate culture and activities of Rosneft, which is aimed at achieving leadership positions in the field of minimizing environmental impact and production environment.

Rosneft implements a comprehensive program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in facilitating the achievement of strategic goals in combating climate change. Expansion of this program, as well as the introduction of innovation – unmanned aircraft, laser and thermal imaging devices of scanning, ultrasound detectors – contribute to minimizing environmental impacts.
