Belarus: announced suppression of channels of illegal migration to EU countries

For the first half of 2021, Belarus managed to stop 11 channels of illegal migration to the countries of the European Union (EU). This was stated by the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Andrei Lozovik, writes BelTA.

He noted that during this time the authorities of the republic detained 15 illegal immigrants in the EU and opened 14 criminal cases. According to him, such results managed to achieve in the conditions of Western sanctions and in the absence of full interaction with the European side. “Unfortunately, it remains unnoticed by our critics,” Lozovik complained.

He also stated that Lithuania and other Western countries themselves are to blame for the underlying migration crisis. “Obviously, the authorities of these countries, supporting the color revolutions, violated the way of life of people in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa and thus provoked the flow of migrants seeking to get to Europe today,” the diplomat concluded.

Earlier, the President of Belarus called the naive and insane requirements of European countries to protect them from illegal migration. He said that after the imposition of sanctions against the republic, it did not have money to curb the unlawful activity on the border and streams of illegal immigrants in the EU.

In June, Lithuania accused Belorussia and personally Lukashenko in hybrid attacks to Europe with illegal migrants. It is assumed that for migrant moving from the Middle East to the borders of European countries, the Belarusian authorities use their national tour operator “Centerkurort”.
