Anton Sluffers and Oleg Artemyev are admitted to work in open space

In real flight Preparations for extracurricular activities (CCD) begins at the International Space Station in two or three weeks before the planned access to open space – the crew is engaged in the equipment collection, training of spacers, studying the CKID cyclogram, maintains a permanent job with specialists from the control center Flights of TsNIIMASH (part of the state corporation “Roskosmos”).

Directly the day itself requires the crew of special training. Such training of the “combat” day of the ECD, which is modeled at the Center for the Training of Cosmonauts named after Yu.A. Gagarin on two simulators, went on the eve of the cosmonauts of the main and duplicating crews of the ISS-66 Anton Slipler and Oleg Artemyev.

Integrated occupation began on the Russian segment of the ISS, where the crew held the work performed immediately before entering outdoor space – the conservation of all station systems and their preparation for the CID. The cyclogram of classes continued in a test training on the exit-2 simulator.

Here the astronauts of Roskosmos Anton Sluffers and Oleg Artemyev worked out full-time and abnormal situations that may occur during a sliding or occur with the system of life support of the spacecraft. Training on the simulator included the preparation of adjacent compartments of the Russian Segment of the ISS to avoid the depressurization of hatches, the training of the body to work under reduced absolute pressure in the scaffle and checking equipment for tightness. The sliding and the work of astronauts in the “Orlans” was carried out in training already on the new operating onboard instruction, which it is envisaged that the “Science” module is docked to the station. Accordingly, part of the work was associated with the development of certain operations on the closure of the hatch of the new multi-purpose module, the docking of which with the station is scheduled for the coming days.

After performing all operations on the “output-2”, the astronauts returned to the simulator of the Russian segment of the International Space Station, where all station systems have led to its original state.

The readiness of the astronauts to independent work on the preparation and use of the “Orlan-ISS” system and the execution of the gateway in the Russian segment of the ISS was checked by specialists of the Center for the Training of Cosmonauts named after Yu.A. Gagarin, Flight Management Center, RKK “Energy” named after S.P. Korolev (included in Roscosmos) and NPP “Star”. Anton Sabelers and Oleg Artemyev once again confirmed their high qualifications in working with the Space and, when performing sliding operations, showed a good level of knowledge of on-board instructions and radio exchange. According to the results of training, the commanders of the main and duplicating crews of the ISS-66 are allowed to work in open space.
