The leader of the DPRK Kim Chen Yun compared the tests that hit the country due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the difficulties of the Korean War. He stated this during the National Conference of Veterans, dedicated to the 68th anniversary of the truce signing. This is reported by TASS with reference to the materials of the Central Telegraph Agency of North Korea (CATC).
“Today we are confronted with deprivation and difficulties caused by an unprecedented global health crisis, and the continued long-term isolation turned into a test is no less complicated than during the war,” the country’s head stressed.
Kim Chen Yun added that North Korea should be remembered about the traditions of the ancestors who won the victory and keep the DPRK to prosperity. The anniversary of the end of the Korean War, which lasted from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953, is a public holiday. The coalition of the 17 countries, headed by the United States, fought on the side of South Korea against North. The latter was supported by China and the USSR.
previously it became known that the DPRK and South Korea will restore the communication lines between the two countries. It is reported that the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Zhe in and the leader of the Korean People’s Democratic Republic Kim Chen Yun agreed to resume the work of a cross-border line of communication between Seoul and Pyongyan, and also agreed to promote the restoration of confidence and strengthen bilateral relations.
