The UN thought about the important step in the fight against the harm of the ecology from plastic packaging: it is a possible ban on a certain chemical that is often used in their production, transfers the Tabloid Daily Mail in a collaborative publication with Greenpeace.
The substance UV-328 is contained in many types of packaging, although studies show its possible harm to human and animal health. The chemical in large doses accumulates in the organisms of living beings and can negatively affect the work of the liver and kidneys.
Scientists, on which the publication refers, believe that the ban on UV-328 will be the first step in order to leave plastic packaging in the past. The proposal for such a ban was put forward by representatives of Sweden at the UN conference, now it is discussed by its regulatory authorities.
As noted by the tabloid, industrial enterprises are unhappy with the prospect of such a ban and are now fighting against the regulation of plastic components at the same level, as is done in relation to other hazardous chemicals.
Earlier in June it was reported that the manufacturer of Barbie dolls The American company Mattel stated the launch of a new line of his toys from recycled plastic garbage.
