Microsoft announced a new attack of the hacker group Nobelium, which is allegedly related to Russia. The appropriate statement was posted on the official blog.
According to Microsoft, cybercriminals tried to hack a number of users, including IT companies, government agencies, analytical centers and financial services. Hackers, using methods such as spraying and password brute force, focused their attack on the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Canada and other countries.
It is noted that criminals were also able to get access to some information on the device owned by Microsoft customer support. Nevertheless, the company stated that most of the actions of the hackers were unsuccessful and they received any access to accounts of only three institutions.
