Minsk reacted to support Serbia ban on flights

Official Minsk responded to Serbia’s decision to support the ban on the flights of Belarusian airlines over the airspace of the European Union and other countries, RIA Novosti reports.

“in Belarus took the decision of Serbia on accession to restrictive measures against our state with misunderstanding. It does not correspond to a high level of interstate dialogue, nor an intergovernmental agreement on air traffic,” said the Belarusian Ambassador to Serbia, Northern Macedonia and Montenegro Valery Brylev.

Minsk hopes that Belgrade will revise its solution. The diplomat noted that the decision to prohibit flights was taken in the same month when Belarus passed the Four MiG-29 fighter to Serbia and held joint military exercises with her and Russia.

Earlier, the head of European diplomacy Josep Burlel said that Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway joined the decision of the European Union on the ban for Belarusian air carriers for the use of airspace and EU airports.

Sanctions were caused by an incident with the Rayanair aircraft. May 23, he made a forced landing in Minsk because of the message about the bomb. After that, ex-chief holders of the opposition telegram channel NEXTA Roman Protasevich and his girlfriend Sophia Saphega were detained.
