Scientists from Harvard Medical School and Spanish University of Murcia called the unexpected benefits of chocolate in the morning. The researchers have proven that women in postmenopausus easier goes overweight and reduces blood sugar, if they allow themselves some dairy delicacy for breakfast, writes The FASEB Journal edition.
Experts conducted an experiment in which 19 women in postmenopausze took part. Within 14 days, some of them were eager for their usual products, others have eaten 100 grams of milk chocolate for an hour after awakening, and the third – an hour before sleep.
For those who allowed themselves a sweet product in the morning, the weight did not increase, but the control of appetite, the composition of the intestinal microbiota and other indicators improved. Women also decreased the volume of the waist and blood glucose level during the day. Evening reception of chocolate contributed to an increase in physical activity the next day on average by 6.9 percent. In addition, women who use delicacy for the night decreased appetite and craving for sweet.
At the same time, women limited their diet in other calorie sources. Those who allowed themselves chocolate in the morning, reduced the number of calories consumed by 16 percent, and their “evening” colleagues are 10 percent. The authors of the study emphasize that it is important not only to choose specific products for use, but also a special time for them.
Previously, scientists revealed the true benefit of cocoa for the brain. In the elderly, this product helps strengthen memory, but the positive effect of biodeadows is limited and in general does not improve the state of the brain.
