EU told about upcoming negotiations on relations with Russia

EU leaders in the upcoming summit in Brussels will discuss future relations with Russia, based on a special report and proposals of some states. The representative of the foreign policy service of the European Union was informed about this “Lente.ru”.

The European Union noted that decisions that were accepted during this meeting will form a further policy of association against Russia. “It is still too early to talk about the results of these discussions,” added Massoli.

She recalled that last time the EU revised relations with Moscow in 2014. Then the sanctions imposed against Russia, regular summits with Russian leadership were suspended, as well as visa-issuance negotiations and a new bilateral agreement to replace partnership and cooperation agreements.

Earlier, the FINANCIAL Times edition reported that Germany and Russia called on the EU to a more dense interaction with Russia. In particular, some diplomats and the German Chancellor herself Angela Merkel offered to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the summit with the leaders of the European Union. The idea was supported by French President Emmanuel Makron.
