Integration of Russia and Belarus should be economically beneficial to both countries and increase their overall competitiveness in the foreign market. This was stated by the Russian ambassador to Minsk Evgeny Lukyanov, reports RIA Novosti.
He rejected the scenario, in which the Russian economy absorbs the economy of Belarus. The diplomat stressed that in the process of integration it is important to move evolutionary and not to perform revolutionary steps.
According to Lukyanov, the coordination of road maps on integration is in the final stage. In total, 28 documents were developed, the parties remained to agree on the latter of them. According to TASS, the last inconsistent program concerns energy carriers.
Premier Belarus Roman Golchenko also announced the completion of the integration process also announced. According to him, it is planned to finish this work by the end of summer. He stressed that the implementation of the Allied State Agreement will not lead to the loss of the country’s sovereignty. In the fact that Minsk will retain sovereignty in full, president Alexander Lukashenko also repeatedly assumed.
In 2019, when initially planned to complete the integration, a number of protests were held against deepening cooperation with Russia. Then Lukashenko repeatedly declared the need to conduct multi-vector policies and build an independent country. He regularly complied with the “Imperial Spaspie” of Russia, criticizing the project of integration within the framework of the Allied State. The performances continued until the presidential elections in August 2020, when mass protests against Lukashenko regime began.
