According to the diplomat, Washington already discusses new restrictions against Minsk with their partners from the UK, Canada and the European Union.
Earlier, June 8, US President Joe Bayden extended for one year the action against the authorities of Belarus, introduced in 2006. The decision notes that the actions “of certain representatives of the Belarusian government and other persons continue to submit an extraordinary and emergency threat to national security and US foreign policy.” According to Baiden, they “undermine democratic processes and institutions in Belarus.”
May 31 The US Department of Finance announced the restoration of sanctions against the Petrochemical Complex of Belarus due to the incident with the Ryanair aircraft. In response, Belarus declared a reduction in the number of diplomats and specialists working in the republic on a temporary basis.
