Poland’s Prime Minister Mateeush Murezhetsky hoped that the sanctions of the European Union against Belarus will lead to a “restructuring”. He stated this in an interview with NewsWeek.
Politician believes that antibelorological measures can lead to changes similar to what was in Poland in the late 1980s. Morrazhetsky stated that the sanctions introduced by the United States “showed effectiveness”, since they led to democratic transformations in the country.
“I only hope that such developments in Belarus will happen faster than in five or six years, as it was in Poland,” he shared. Prime Minister added that none of the EU countries ranged when I put sanctions against Minsk.
From 1945 to 1990, the Loyal USSR regime was installed in the country – the Polish People’s Republic. Soviet troops were posted on its territory, it was part of the organization of the Warsaw Treaty. The government in exile, which worked since the occupation of Poland Nazi Germany on the one hand and the Soviet Union – on the other, in 1939, continued to work in London for 52 years to the collapse of the communist regime. In 1989, the country was renamed the Polish Republic.
