In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the possibility of holding the Council of Russia is NATO in the near future. The deputy head of the department Alexander Grushko called this initiative “unrealistic under current conditions.” His words report RIA Novosti.
The diplomat stressed that Moscow does not leave the dialogue with the Alliance and herself initiated the meeting of the Council in 2019. He noted that the Russian side is ready to negotiate de eases and put forward many proposals in this area.
Grushko added that the discussion of security issues with NATO “is unlikely to be serious”, if the organization will not restore normal contacts in the military sphere. He recalled that due to the strategic decisions of the alliance and demonization of Russia, the Baltic and Black Sea regions were the “Military confrontation arena”.
According to the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry, the joint agenda of Moscow and NATO was founded on cooperation in the management of global projects, in particular, in the fight against terrorism. “But NATO elected another way, therefore there is no positive agenda,” signed up the pear.
On June 7, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg offered Moscow to negotiate at the Council meeting Russia – NATO. According to the Secretary General, the Alliance offered the Russian side to organize a meeting for more than a year ago, but has not yet received a positive response. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharov replied that the country was ready for dialogue.
