A resident of Minsk Stepan Latypov, accused of organizing protest actions, tried to commit suicide. This was announced on June 1. Spring’s human rights center.
Latypova was unconscious from the courtroom and sent in emergency to the hospital. Before the suicide attempt, the defendant declared his father that the security forces threatened: if he does not recognize the guilt, criminal cases will be initiated against their relatives and neighbors. Latypova Father said that her son was kept in an insulator with people with mental peculiarities.
According to the investigation, in August last year, Latypov began a chat in Telegram, where she called on the neighbors to protest actions and “destructive activities aimed at aggravating tensions in society.” He allegedly organized the meetings of like-minded people, the spread of campaigning products and “applying drawings and protest inscriptions” on the facades of houses.
All this caused people’s protest sentiment and readiness to participate in illegal actions, it is said in the case file.
In addition, Latypov is accused of creating “workshops on the manufacture of protest symbolism”, resisted by law enforcement officers and, being the director of the company, was misleading customers when providing services for the chemical protection of plants.
