American food giant Cargill will start selling special muzzles for cows, which capture methane from respiration and extinguishing livestock. The new technology of the British startup Zelp is planned to be massively introduced in the livestock industry and the dairy industry of European countries in the coming year as measures to save the planet from global warming, Bloomberg writes.
Methods-absorbing cow masks, according to Zelp, are able to reduce the formation of greenhouse gas from livestock’s livelihoods. About 95 percent of methane is highlighted in cows in the form of belching and through the nose. For the first 25 years, in the atmosphere, methane catches 80 times more heat than carbon dioxide.
Zelp devices over the mouth of the cows will be replaced with a filter that converts methane to a safer carbon monoxide (carbon monoxide) for the atmosphere. This initiative will help branches of agriculture, meat and dairy companies to become more “clean” due to the reduction of the greenhouse effect.
Muzzle is in development, but already in 2022 the Food company Cargill, which specializes in the feed for animals will offer it in its networks throughout Europe. The initial cost of a mask for one cow will be about $ 80 (5875 rubles), the manufacturer reports. The device will make the most miniature and convenient for animals.
World animal husbandry is one of the key sources of greenhouse gases, it accounts for about 15 percent of emissions. Methane, which produce cows in the process of their life, is much more dangerous to CO2 (carbon dioxide). In April, the European company Mootral suggested “refreshing” the breath and belching in cattle with special feed additives with garlic and citrus.
