Head of “Rosteha” explained meaning of US sanctions on defense export

Head of the State Corporation Rostech Sergey Chemezov explained the meaning of the US sanctions on the defense exports introduced in March of this year. He told about it in an interview with RBC.

As explained Chezov, the restrictions are directed to the dual-use products, which the US State Department considers “military services”. In particular, the situation affects civilian aircraft MS-21.

“They forbidden the import of composite materials for the wing. Although this absurd, it is clear. I think it is a breathtaking position as a whole,” he said. In his opinion, in addition to the deterrence of Russian defense technologies, the purpose of American sanctions is to prevent Russia’s development in general and civil aviation in particular.

Head “Rostech” admitted that, in the case of MS-21, the termination of the supply made it difficult to work, but as a result, a domestic composite material was made. The wing console has already arrived at the Irkutsk aircraft factory, he added.
