Rosatom State Corporation together with Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” gave start a closed contest for the development of a town-planning concept and architectural appearance of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics (NCFM). This is stated in the state corporation. The Center is planned to be created on the border with the city of Sarov of the Nizhny Novgorod region, where the Russian Federal Nuclear Center VNIIEF is located. The operator of the competition is CITYMAKERS.
The architectural companies participating should offer planning solutions to the territory, a scheme of organization of public spaces, as well as the architectural appearance of the NCFM buildings. It is planned that a new innovation cluster with a unique technological basis for universities will unite leading global practices in the field of education and science to become a point of attraction of scientists, young professionals and the best students of Russian universities. The creation of a center of this level will be the basis for the development of breakthrough technologies and ensuring the leadership of the Russian Federation in the global scientific process, will give a powerful stimulus to improve the interest of young people to science, and will increase the status of scientists in the country and the world.
For the development of the competitive technical assignment CityMakers studied foreign and Russian examples of successful educational clusters, revealed key principles for the formation of a modern scientific cluster and developed a matrix of the functional program of the future campus, which will ensure the necessary conditions for effective scientific activities and will contribute to the maximum productivity and implementation of residents of the future Scientific Center.
It is planned that the core of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics will be the educational building of the Branch of Moscow State University, advanced laboratories of the All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics and Technopark “Sarov”, in which high-tech production will be arranged.
Also on the territory there will also be comfortable accommodation for students, professors and employees NCFM, Congress Center, Hotel, Museum, Fablaby, Cafe, Gyms and All Infrastructure Required. Public campus spaces and a rich event program will become an incentive for the appearance of ideas, collaborations and communities. Under the terms of the competition, the advanced infrastructure and technology will be as follows in the natural landscape in accordance with the most modern requirements for the ecology and energy efficiency of buildings.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a visit to Sarov, approved the initiative to create the National Center for Physics and Mathematics. In the future, the National Center will become one of the most technologically equipped educational campuses around the world.
Presentation of projects of participants and announcement of the winner of the competition will be held at the end of July.
