Head of the Cabinet of Representatives of the leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya revealed the alleged amount of assistance to the republic from the European Union and other countries and international organizations in the event of a change of power. According to Valeria Kovalevsky, we are talking about the amount of ten billion dollars, RBC reports.
It includes the EU developed EU plan of economic assistance to Belarus in the amount of three billion euros ($ 3.65 billion). Kovalevsky explained that other interested players can provide two times, but did not specify, about whom.
As noted by the chairman of the European Commission of Ursula, the village of De Lyien, Minsk will be able to get this money only after the country becomes a democratic. The head of European diplomacy Jozep Borrel spoke in the same spirit, emphasizing that it comes to supporting the republic on this path.
After the democratic transition of the EU, the Belarusian Framework Agreement will offer Belarus to strengthen cooperation. Help is proposed to lead in three areas – this is support for structural reforms and increased competitiveness, restoration of the economy, as well as investments in infrastructure and environmental and digital transformation.
The relations of Belarus and the European Union have complicated after the presidential elections in August 2020. The European authorities considered the results of counting the votes, according to which the current president, Alexander Lukashenko, scored more than 80 percent, falsified. The sharply aggravation of the situation in May of this year is associated with a forced reversal and landing at the Minsk airport of the Ryanair aircraft, which followed from Athens to Vilnius.
