One of the solutions adopted at the meeting of the Russian and American presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Bayiden may be the return of the ambassadors of Russia and the United States to local diplomatic confedets. The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov in a conversation with Interfax.
“If the ambassadors [Russia in the USA Anatoly Antonov and the United States in the Russian Federation, John Sullivan] return, then we will also send a signal that the situation is changing for the better. The Russian side seeks this, we are interested in this,” the diplomat stressed.
Ryabkov stressed that Moscow does not want confrontation in relations with Washington. And on the basis of the meeting, this tension can decrease, he believes.
On April 16, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Kremlin advised Sullian to go to the United States to consult with the new administration on relationships between Moscow and Washington. Sullivan himself first refused to leave, but soon left the country.
Before that, at the beginning of April, Antonov said that the relations of Russia and the USA are in the deepest crisis. He arrived in Moscow for consultations after the scandalous interview of Byyden March 21.
