Lithuania published in first place in incidence of COVID-19 in European Union

Lithuania came to the first place in the incidence of COVID-19 among all the countries of the European Union. This is reported by the publication of “Sputnik Lithuania” with reference to the data of the European Disease Prevention and Control Center (ECDC).

It is noted that over the past two weeks, 467.38 cases of infection per 100 thousand people were recorded in the country. Mortality rate amounted to 58.7 cases per million citizens – seventh place in Europe. The second place for the fraction of the fallen went to Sweden – 427.1 per 100 thousand, third – Latvia – 336 cases per 100 thousand.

Total, according to the latest data, more than 273 thousand people became coronavirus in Lithuania. About 252 thousand were cured from COVID-19, over 4.2 thousand patients became victims of infection.

Earlier it was reported that Vilnius ordered to send to Kiev, Chisinau and Tbilisi more than 100 thousand doses of the vaccine from Coronavirus and called such a gesture “act of solidarity”. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic also called on other European countries to do in the same way to support their eastern allies.
