The US Ministry of Energy has reported on the last six months of the import of Iranian oil imports, before that, since 1991, such deliveries were not conducted. Such statistics are contained in the Material Management Materials Department of the Office.
In March, import volume amounted to 1.03 million barrels. Prior to that, it became known about supplying 1.11 million barrels in October last year. Both cases are associated with tanker interceptions.
The first episode occurred after in August 2020, American vessels seized four tankers with Iranian oil, following Venezuela. In October, the government sold fuel for 40 million dollars. The money was aimed at satisfying the claims that US citizens filed to Iran. In Tehran, the fact of interception was called piracy.
In February of the current year, the US Ministry of Justice requested a court of arrest of oil cargo from Iran, two million barrels, which were intercepted in the Oman Gulf. In Washington, they explain their right to Iranian oil by the fact that the end beneficiary of exports is the case of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution, recognized in the United States by a terrorist organization.
As for deliveries to the United States of Russian oil and petroleum products, in March, they rose 1.8 times compared with February, to 22.94 million barrels. These figures allowed Russia to rise to second place in American imports, between Canada (139.87 million barrels) and Mexico (17.62 million barrels).
Earlier it was reported that oil supplies from Russia to China in April decreased by 15.3 percent – 6.3 million tons against 7.44 million tons. In the first four months of 2021, the PRC reduced the purchase of Russian oil by 2.14 percent in annual terms.
