About the mysterious military base next to the key route of energy supply and commercial cargo on the island of Maun (or Perim) in Yemen, new data is disclosed. They indicate the Telegram channel “Mosaic Bay”.
According to a statement in the official news agency of Saudi Arabia, the forces located on the island are coalition. Thus, the military base will be a bridgehead of the official authorities of Yemen for the war with the rebels – Husitis.
However, the authors of the “bay mosaic” indicate that such statements do not cancel the strategic importance of Mauns for the United Arab Emirates – according to some data, it is this country that owns the base. “UAE and previously acted within the coalition in the south of Yemen, but in fact it was the realization of its own national interests, which were quite often dispersed with the goals of the coalition,” noted in the Telegram channel.
Associated Press agency wrote about the mysterious base on the island of May 25. The island located in the Bab El Mandantry Strait between the south-western tip of the Arabian Peninsula (Yemen) and the northeastern part of Africa is important from the point of view of oil and commercial cargo supplies.
Military conflict in Yemen continues since 2014.
