US disclosed plans about the contract on the open sky (Don). The administration of American president Joe Bayiden notified Russia, which does not intend to return to the contract, reports the Associated Press with reference to the source.
According to the agency, this was stated by the US Deputy Secretary of State Wardy Sherman in a conversation with the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov.
This decision was made after the assessment of the “expediency of restoring their participation in the contract.”
On May 19, the State Duma voted unanimously for the Denunation of the Treaty on the Open Sky. After the lower chamber, the bill should consider the Federation Council: At this time, the US will still be able to “return” the agreement.
Before that, it was reported that the United States had not yet decided on its objection to Don. According to the representative of the State Department, one of the factors affecting this decision is non-compliance with Russia of this contract.
