Issue of Oracle Linux 8.4 distribution

Company Oracle published Distribution Release Oracle Linux 8.4 created on the basis of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux batch base 8.4. To download without restrictions spreads Installation ISO image, 8.6 GB, prepared for architectures x86_64 and arm64 (AARCH64 ). For Oracle Linux Open Unlimited and free access to YUM repository with binary updates of packages with error elimination (Errata) and security problems. For download also prepared separately supported Application Stream modules.

In addition to the package with a kernel from RHEL (based on kernel 4.18), Oracle Linux proposed a private Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 6 core, based on the Linux 5.4 kernel and optimized to work with industrial software and Oracle equipment. The source texts of the kernel, including the breakdown on individual patches, are available in public Git repository Oracle. The Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel kernel is set by default, positioned as an alternative to a regular package with the RHEL core and provides a number of extended features, such as DTrace integration and improved BTRFS support.
