American scientists called “super heavy speakers” (English Supertasters), that is, people sensitive to food with bitter taste, more invulnerable to contamination of SARS-COV-2 coronavirus. Experts published their findings in the article in the journal Jama Network Open.

According to the hypothesis of the researchers, this is explained by the fact that the receptor T2R38, which is responsible for the perception of bitter taste, when activated, contributes to the development of nitrogen oxide – a radical killing coronavirus and preventing replication in the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract.
