The World Bank in its annual report on the state of the Russian economy gave the authorities to combat poverty, reports the “Renta.ru” correspondent from the online presentation.
World Bank specialists have positively assessed government measures to eliminate poverty and social inequality, noting that the size of support programs exceeds analogues in many countries.
The overall size of support measures reaches three percent of GDP, or 30 billion dollars. In terms of GDP ratio, this indicator is about twice the global and 0.8 percentage points higher than in the region of Europe and Central Asia, which separately explores the World Bank.
However, the authors indicate, such an approach greatly overestimates the budget expenditures, which is reflected in the financing of its other articles. In this regard, the World Bank recommends focusing on targeted assistance to the most needy categories of the population. In this case, the achievement of the goal to reduce poverty in the country is twice, to 6.6 percent, by 2030 will be achievable.
