Moon approached Earth as close as possible in 2021

The moon went to the ground to the closest in 2021 Distance on May 26 at 4:52 Moscow time – this phenomenon is called Super Life, RIA Novosti reports.

The press service of the Moscow Planetarium clarified that during this phenomenon the full moon comes to Earth at a distance of closer than 362 thousand kilometers. At the same time, the moments of passing the perigaus, that is, closest to the land of the orbit,

and the full moon will be worthwhile for no more than three days. “Superluias are every year, but close matches of these two moments are quite rare,” they emphasized in the planetarium.

According to the senior researcher at the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences Oleg Golnikov, superluna itself does not apply to major astronomical events. The size of the moon at such a moment exceeds the usual only five to six percent, stressed the scientist.

10 hours after superluna (at 14:19 Moscow time) the full lunar eclipse is expected. In Russia, residents of the southeast of Siberia and the Far East will be able to observe it, since this phenomenon will occur during the daytime. Before the maximum phase of the moon will change the color: due to the refraction of sunlight by the earth’s atmosphere, it will become red, and its northern border will be blue.

Earlier it was reported that a powerful solar release would be collapsed on Earth. Space devices recorded a sharp surge of solar activity, which has become the largest in recent years. For May 22-23, 17 outbreaks occurred in the sun, which were accompanied by emissions of the substance in the interplanetary space. It is assumed that they will cause magnetic storms on May 26.
