American Senator from US Republican Party Ted Cruz believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin should thank his American colleague Joe Bayden for the opportunity to complete the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. He reported this in his twitter account.
He also advised the reporters to ask the polar home press service, “there was a press on the brakes against sanctions” against the gas pipeline by the prerequisite of Russia for this meeting.
Cruz played a prominent role in the work of the Senate over sanctions against the “Northern Flow-2”. Senator regularly criticizes the current administration for not enough hard, in his opinion, measures. So, in March he threatened that he would block the candidacy of William Burns to the post of Director of the Central Intelligence Department (CIA), until the administration of President Joe Bayiden would not expand the sanctions on the North Stream-2 gas pipeline.
Meeting of the Presidents of Russia and the United States will be held on June 16 in Geneva, the Kremlin said. In a common statement, it is reported that the parties will discuss the state and prospects for the further development of Russian-American relations, the problem of strategic stability, as well as interaction in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and the settlement of regional conflicts.
