On October 7, 2020, Tikhanovskaya was announced to the federal wanted list in Russia for one of the articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, according to which it is declared wanted, is not specified. According to Lent.Ru, a source in law enforcement agencies, Tikhanovskaya is wanted under the legal assistance agreement concluded between Russia and Belarus. According to him, if a person is announced in the wanted list in one of the treaties, it is automatically declared in the wanted list and in the second country.
Later in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia explained why Tikhanovskaya was declared in interstate wanted list. Thus, Belarus appealed to Russia for help in promoting their citizens in the framework of the Allied State Treaty. As told in the Russian department, it is wanted under the article on calls to actions aimed at the harm of the National Security (Article 361 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
