As part of the Pilot Railways project, they would like to attract 600 prisoners to the construction of railways in the Far East. This is stated in the presentation “On the development of the railway infrastructure of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian highways” of the head of state-owned company Oleg Belozerov, to which RBC refers.

In one of the slides stated that the Eastern range at this stage need nine thousand people, but at the moment available only in Russian Railways 7315 workers. The company proposed seven options for attracting additional labor, and cooperation with the Federal Penitental Execution Service (FSIN) is one of them.
As disclosed in a certificate, the pilot project implies the creation of “correctional centers”. Negotiations with FSIN have already been carried out, 530 people were prepared to employment, LLC Promstroy and LLC “TS Stroy”.
The rest of the following options were the increase in the number of railway troops, attracting labor migrants, citizens from other regions and student construction stages.
Previously today, the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin positively assessed the proposal to replace labor migrants with prisoners, however, indicated that the latter was not enough in the country.
