President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zaparov at a meeting in Sochi with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin called Russia the main partner and an ally of his country. It is reported by “Russian Gazeta”.
“I would particularly like to note the support provided by the people of Kyrgyzstan, Russia is our main ally and a trade and economic partner, so I hope to hold fruitful negotiations on all issues today,” Zaparov said.
At the meeting, the parties discussed trade and economic cooperation between the countries and the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Putin noted that Russia occupies a confident first place in the trade turnover of Kyrgyzstan, which favorably affects relations between states.
Much attention to the presidents paid security and the problem of the border Kyrgyz-Tajik conflict. Putin noted that earlier the same question was discussed with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon during his visit to Moscow.
April 29 at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border there was a scuffle between the locals, which later turned into battles between the border guards of both sides. As a result, 19 citizens of Tajikistan and 36 citizens of Kyrgyzstan killed, including peaceful residents.
During the election campaign, Zaparov repeatedly stated that the Kyrgyz rate to strengthen relations with Russia meets the national interests of the country.
