Biggest risk for Russian economy

The growth of greenhouse gas emissions is the greatest risk for the economy of the country, the adviser to the President of Russia, a special representative for climate matters Ruslan Edelgriev, writes TASS.

He is confident that the country must go to low carbon development to preserve the competitiveness of Russian products. “If our partners abroad globally reduce emissions in their own country, then, unfortunately, these emissions are growing in our country,” Edelgriev emphasized. He also called the struggle with an increase in emissions by the condition for the exit of Russia to new international markets.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the future to make air in the country in the country than in Europe. “For the upcoming 30 years, the accumulated amount of clean emission of greenhouse gases in Russia should be less than in the European Union,” said the head of state.

He noted that this is a difficult task, given the size of the country, the features of its geography, climate and the structure of the economy. According to Putin, Russia needs to answer climate change challenges and adapt to them industry, housing and communal services, agriculture, all infrastructure. It is important to create a branch on the disposal of carbon emissions and to reduce their volumes, the president noted.
