US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken rated negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who were held this week in Reykjavik. This is reported by TASS.
Blinken told that a constructive and very business conversation took place, which lasted almost two hours. He noted that the United States prefers to have more stable and predictable relations with Russia. In his opinion, there are spheres, such as Afghanistan, strategic stability, arms control agreements and a climate change control, in which cooperation is of common interest for both countries.
At the same time, an American diplomat stressed that if Russia continues to take aggressive actions aimed at Washington or his allies, then in the United States will answer to protect their interests.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova spoke about the results of the first personal meeting of Lavrov and Blinken. As Zakharov explained, the meeting of two politicians took place in the development of a telephone conversation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the American leader Joe Bayiden, held in April, and developed on the basis of the installations, the heads of the two countries. Questions who climbed during the meeting of Lavrov and Blinken, “have already made the report to two presidents who will make decisions,” she added.
The Blinken and Lavrov meeting took place in the capital of Iceland Reykjavik on the night of May 20. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry called the conversation conversation. According to him, despite the abundance of “dawn” in relations with Washington, he felt a desire to eliminate them from the head of the State Department. Following the meeting, Blinken stated that Russia and the United States have a number of areas for cooperation. They concern the situation in some regions of the world, as well as direct relations between the two countries.
