The incident with the aircraft of the Irish budget airline Ryanair, who made an emergency landing in Minsk, will not remain unanswered and serious consequences by the EU. Such a statement was made by the German Foreign Minister Khaiko Maas, reports TASS.
“The fact that the aircraft running between the two states of the EU was forced to commit an intermediate landing under the pretext of the threat of mining, is a flagrant intervention in civil aviation communication in Europe,” the agency leads the head of the department.
Maas also expressed concern about reports that the founder of the Telegram channel NEXTA Roman Protasevich was arrested in this way. He stressed that this incident will be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the informal European Council.
“In any case, Belarus should immediately ensure safety, inviolability and freedom to all passengers and release Roman Protasevich,” said German Foreign Minister.
On May 23, the Ryanair aircraft, which followed the route Athens-Vilnius, made an emergency landing in Minsk after receiving reports of mining. On board the creator of the Telegram-channel NEXTA, which illuminated the protests in Belarus, Roman Protasevich was detained. After about five hours spent in Minsk, the plane continued flight.
