Head of European Commission stated incident with Ryanair in Minsk unacceptable

Head of the European Commission (EC) of Ursula von der Lyien commented on the emergency landing in Minsk Airlines of the Airlines Ryanair, on board which was the creator of the Foreign Extremist Organization of the Telegram-channel Nexta Roman Protasevich, which was recognized in Belarus. According to the publication, she called an incident with an airplane inadmissible. The head of the European Commission also stated that all passengers should be able to fly to Vilnius – the plane followed the route Athens – Vilnius, but landed in Minsk after the mining report.

Earlier, President of Lithuania Gitanas Bested appealed to the Allies on NATO and the EU with a call to immediately respond to the “threat of international civil aviation on the part of the Belarusian regime.” He also demanded to release Protasevich.

On May 23, the airline Ryanair, who followed the route Athens – Vilnius, made an emergency landing in Minsk after mining reports. On board Roman Protasevich was detained.

The NEXTA project covered protests against the presidential elections in Belarus in August 2020, he was recognized as a foreign extremist organization and prohibited, and its creators Stepan Putilo and Roman Protasevich are listed in the list of persons involved in terrorist activities. They are accused of organizing mass riots, as well as in the actions aimed at the “initiation of social hostility” in relation to representatives of the authorities and security forces.
