The leaders of the European Union countries intend to discuss new sanctions against Russia at the upcoming summit, but at the same time will be inferred on the reluctance of confrontation with Moscow. This became known since the head of the European Commission on European Values and Transparency of the Faith of Yurov in an interview with Czech Radio, its statement leads RIA Novosti.
The meeting will take place on May 24-25 in Brussels. According to Yurovo, the “legitimate requirements” of the EU will be affected by the Russian side, as the end of the hybrid and cybernetic wars, the implementation of Minsk agreements and respect for human rights.
“I think it will also be said that the EU wants to avoid confrontation with his close neighbor. But the one, as can be seen, decided to lead himself as an opponent and nothing else remains how to react to it,” the deputy head stressed European Commission.
she added that it would be about economic sanctions, and not about expulsion of diplomats. At the same time, the Czech Republic, Poland and Latvia will adhere to the firm position in relation to Russia, while Western European countries react much softer, entered into Yurov.
Earlier, the European Union called the achievement of stability the main goal in relations with Russia. The high-ranking diplomat EU said that the further development of interaction with Moscow will be discussed within the framework of the Strategic Discussion at the EU Summit in Brussels on May 24. According to him, Europe in relations with Russia will continue to follow previously developed principles.
