Proton-PM (included in the integrated structure of NGO Energomash State Corporation “Roskosmos”) launched the engine of the RD-191M – modified version of the RD-191 for the launch vehicles of the Angara family. The first copy is planned to be made in the early 2023th, in the same year the Scientific and Production Association “Energomash” named after Academician V.P. Glushko will start his tests.
RD191m is a 10% forced by the modification of the RD-191. The engine will perform the tasks during the launches of heavy versions of the Angara missiles from the East Size, including the piloted program. To this end, the developers have made a number of changes in the product.
In the framework of the contract signed in December 2020, Proton-PM will make three prototypes of RD-191m. The first engine is designed for conversion tests, the second – for final convective tests, the third – for interdepartmental tests.
To master the production of RD-191m, it will take to release more than 1.2 thousand new process and 3.5 thousand snap-in designs. In addition, in 2020-2022, six active test stands will be upgraded, five more – to be designed and manufactured. The RD-191M engine assembly site is planned to be organized in the first quarter of 2022. It will be located on a country production platform in a new building 82.
