In Germany, they declared meaninglessness of US pressure on Northern Plow-2

In Germany, the US decision was not to introduce sanctions against the construction of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. This was stated by the member of the Bundestag Committee on International Affairs from the Alteration Party for Germany, Waldemar Gerd, reports RIA Novosti.

Politician noted that the American side finally heard the opinion of Germany and taking into account her national interests. He concluded that the country was first able to repulse a transatlantic partner since the Second World War.

“Fortunately, in the United States there were a sober heads that began to more pragmatically think about the future world order,” said Gerd and stressed that “Northern Stream-2” will be completed, since he is necessary for the German economy. The politician noted that the American pressure on the country on this issue is meaningless.

According to Gerd, Germany remains “in the rank of not an equal partner” in relations with the United States. He added that Washington has no weighty arguments against the gas pipeline project, and in case of continuation of the pressure, the German political course can become more pro-Russian.

Earlier in the US State Department confirmed the rejection of sanctions against the North Stream-2 pipeline. It was reported that the gas pipeline is the activity on which restrictions could be imposed, but the presidential administration of Joe Bayiden decided not to do this. This decision was explained by the national interests of Washington.
