US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington is counting on stable and predictable relations with Moscow. He called this goal during a meeting with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov in Reykjavik.
According to Blinken, predictable and stable relations between Russia and the United States would go for the benefit of the whole world. “We think it’s good for our people, good for the people of Russia, as well as good for the whole world,” he said.
At the same time, Blinken stressed that two countries have disagreements. According to him, “if Russia will act aggressively against us, as well as against our partners and allies, we will reply.” The State Secretary noted that the US leader Joe Biden marked this position during a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the capital of Iceland Reykjavik began the first full-time meeting of the heads of the Russian Federation and the United States Sergei Lavrov and Anthony Blinken. They intend to discuss relations between Moscow and Washington, the situation in the Korean Peninsula and Afghanistan and a nuclear transaction with Iran. In addition, Lavrov stressed that the approaches of the two countries on various issues vary greatly, but Russia and the United States need to cooperate in the field of strategic security.
