Apple will release a 40-core processor

Apple intends to radically update the computer line. This is reported by the Bloomberg agency.

Plans of the company shared by Bloomberg Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman). The specialist predicted a complete update of the current line of Mac computers, which is associated with the release of more productive processors from Apple. First of all, the company will release MacBook Pro in two versions – with a screen by 14 and 16 inches. The device will receive a new housing, an enlarged port number and magnetic charger MAGSAFE. Announcement laptop will be held in summer.

By the end of the year, the company will introduce new MacBook Air, IMAC, Mac Mini and a series of professional Mac Pro computers. The latter will be equipped with processors with 20 or 40 cores. In the first case, the chip will consist of 16 high-performance and four energy-efficient nuclei, in the second – will receive 32 and 8 nuclei, respectively. The specialist explained that high-performance kernels will be involved in complex calculations, whereas with normal operation, the processor will rely on the kernel with low power consumption.

About new chips It is known that they will support more advanced NEURAL ENGINE machine processing technology. Also, the computers can add more Thunderbolt ports.

The chips of the new generation will allow Mac Pro 64 or 128 gigabytes of RAM. Computers will go out with AMD video cards. New devices will receive more compact dimensions than Mac Pro issued in 2019 from the current line. Thanks to Apple’s new processors, the MacBook Pro will be limited to 64, and not 16 gigabytes.

In addition to laptops and Mac Pro in the American company, work on the upgrade of the budget desktop Mac Mini. The scheduled version of the device will have four ports for connecting accessories instead of two. At the April event, Apple was planning to submit an IMAC with an increased diagonal of the display, however, the development of this model was suspended – probably will return to this question later.

Who wishes to save anonymity sources told Mark Gourman, that the main purpose of the update is the full replacement of current computers based on Intel processors by 2022. Apple announced the refusal of Intel chips on the WWDC held in June, in November, the company introduced the first computers based on the M1 processor.

At the end of 2020, Bloomberg sources told that Apple plans to release a series of new chips. In particular, insiders mentioned Mac Pro with a 32-nuclear processor.
